Sputnik5 is 83% effective against Delta Virus

MOSCOW: Russian Health Minister Mikhail Morashko says the Russian vaccine Sputnik5 is about 83 percent effective against Delta strain of the coronavirus, slightly lower than previously estimated.

Russian officials have attributed the rise in cases of the coronavirus in June and July to the reluctance to introduce the corona to the population, despite the Delta type and abundant vaccines.

It may be recalled that in June, it was claimed that Sputnik 5 was 90% effective against the Delta type of Corona.

The TASS news agency quoted Morocco as saying that the latest results show that the vaccine is about 83%.

“Sputnik 5 is safe and effective against all types of coronavirus,” Alexander Gentsberg, director of the Gamalia Institute for Vaccine Development, told a local newspaper.

Russia, a country of more than 140 million people, has approved four home-grown vaccines against corona. About 6.5 million cases have been reported in Russia since the beginning of the Corona epidemic.
