Lahore: Lahore High Court issues a strict order for Chief Secretary Punjab and Secretary Housing. According to reports, the LHC has fixed the date of 22nd June for a contempt of court hearing against the Chief Secretary Punjab and Secretary Housing. The court has ordered both officers to present themselves along with a reply to the show-cause notice issued to them.

According to details the hearing in front of the LHC single bench at the plaint of Public Health Engineering Department Officer Malik Muhammad Nawaz has been scheduled for 22nd June. In the previous hearing the Chief Secretary and Secretary Housing had been given a show-cause notice for contempt of court proceedings, with a 7 day response time. The plaintiff has taken the stance that he is a Grade 18 executive engineer in the Public Health Engineering Department.

The plaintiff is not being reported to Grade 19 on the pretext of a case being filed against him. Even thought the FIR against him has been removed, he is still not getting a promotion. He applied to the Chief Secretary to consider the promotion in the Departmental Promotion Board meeting, but on getting no response, he referred to the Lahore High Court. The court directed the Chief Secretary to consider the case of the plaintiff in the DPC (Departmental Promotion Committee).

Despite the orders of the court, his case is not being considered in the Departmental Promotional Board. The plaintiff has requested that there should be contempt of court proceedings against the Chief Secretary Punjab and others responsible, for disobeying the court orders. The law officer of the Punjab Government had failed fo give a convincing response during the previous hearing, over which the court had issued a show-cause notice to the Chief Secretary.
