Suspect in Attack on Saif Ali Khan, Arrested

DELHI: In the latest developments concerning the attack case of Bollywood actor, and ‘Chotey Nawab’ of Pataudi, Saif Ali Khan Mumbai police have taken a suspect into custody.

A day after actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed at his Mumbai home, a suspect has been taken into custody after a massive search. The arrested suspect has been brought to Bandra police station. His photograph has also been released. Not much is known about him, and it has not been confirmed whether he is the same person who broke into the actor’s house yesterday or someone else.

According to Indian media, sources said that the suspect was seen near Bandra railway station after the incident yesterday. Police believe that he had changed clothes before fleeing. The police had formed 20 teams for the investigation and were collecting technical data and using informants to track down the accused. Police teams were also camping in Vasai and Nallasopara in search of the attacker. Police said the intruder in Saif Ali Khan’s house had entered ‘Satguru Sharan’, a 12-storey building in the posh Bandra area that houses the actor’s four-storey residence. Police suspect that the intruder in Khan’s house was in touch with someone working in the actor’s house and thus gained access to the house without being caught on the CCTV cameras installed in the lobby. Sources said they believe he was familiar with the layout of the building and used a fire shaft to reach the upper floor after scaling the wall of the adjoining compound.

After the accused entered the 11th floor of the building, a commotion continued for 30 minutes, during which the house employees and Saif Ali Khan resisted the accused. During this, Mr. Khan sustained six injuries. He was taken to the nearby Lilavati hospital and underwent emergency surgery. Khan is now out of danger, his intruder managed to escape and was seen on CCTV on the sixth floor descending the stairs. It is suspected that he used the fire shaft to escape, which is why he was not caught exiting the premises.
