Taj Story, which premiered on October 31, 2025, makes a bold and provocative statement — questioning whether the Taj Mahal was truly built by Shah Jahan for Mumtaz Mahal.
Directed by Tushar Amrish Goel, Taj Story attempts to take a controversial take on the monument. According to the premise, Taj Mahal was not originally built by Shah Jahan as a mausoleum for Mumtaz Mahal. It was allegedly a pre-existing Hindu temple. As per critics, the plot remains messy, confusing and fails to prescribe an accurate historical account.

Though the Archaeological Survey of India and other historians have debunked this theory, Taj Story treats it as the main premise. It paints the Mughals, historians, educationists and secularists as villains. The dichotomy of ‘Us & Them’ is pretty noticeable. This alone uncovers the nature of the film as agenda-oriented, or one directed to support 5th generation warfare.

The protagonist accuses all those supporting the idea as nothing but intellectual terrorism, a point rightly highlighted by different online reviewers. The script repeatedly takes jabs at the Mughals, using every opportunity to portray them in a negative light.
