In another oppressive move, the Taliban Government of Afghanistan suspended broadcasts of the Shamshad TV for refusing to air anti-Pakistan propaganda.

According to sources, the Taliban government suspended Shamshad News’ TV, radio, and social media services simultaneously.

Broadcasts of the country’s second largest private channel were halted in Kandahar, Takhar, and Badghis, provinces.

The suspension was due to the channel’s refusal to promote anti-Pakistan narratives and to broadcast the Taliban government’s stance.

The sources said the Afghan Journalists Center reports a deeply troubling rise in media gagging and further erosion of freedom of expression in Afghanistan.

The Taliban’s so-called laws, framed under the guise of religion, have stripped media of its freedom.

The Taliban’s hardline decisions have previously created an atmosphere of oppression for Afghan women and journalists.

Punishing a media outlet for not engaging in anti-Pakistan propaganda reflects the Taliban’s narrow-mindedness and ignorance.
