Taliban take over of Kabul happened without human casualties: Local hospital authorities

Aug 17, 2021: Since the Taliban seized control of the country in a relatively smooth transfer of power, the group has assured the general public that their lives and safety will not be compromised.

This reassurance is supported by the management of Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan Hospital saying that in the last two days since the Taliban took control, no one has been brought to the hospital who has been killed in the conflict.

No killings have been reported across Afghanistan since the Taliban took control, according to reports.

According to statements from the Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan Hospital, no soldiers have been brought to the hospital in the last two days.

The Shaheed Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan Hospital said it had not received any wounded soldiers since the end of the war in Afghanistan. For the past three days since the Afghan government fell to the Taliban, there has been no fighting in all of Afghanistan. Officials at the Shaheed Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan Hospital this morning said that their have been no military or civilian casualties for the past three days.

Meanwhile, the Taliban on Tuesday also declared a general amnesty for all government officials and urged them to return to work, two days after taking power following a lightning sweep through the country.

It is to be noted that, Taliban fighters have managed to wrench control from the government at an astonishingly rapid pace ever since the US troop withdrawal began this past month.

Most provinces, including Kabul, have been won over by the Taliban without a fight.

President Joe Biden earlier defended the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan after the Taliban’s stunning military takeover that triggered panic in Kabul with thousands mobbing the airport in a desperate attempt to flee.

Heaping criticism at the Western-backed government that was ousted with shockingly little resistance, he said US troops could not defend a nation whose leaders “gave up and fled”, as did President Ashraf Ghani.

The Taliban sought to reassure the international community that Afghans should not fear them, with co-founder Abdul Ghani Baradar saying the militants needed to show that they could “serve our nation and ensure security”.
