Taliban’s new interim government will take over from today
Sept 8, 2021: The new interim government announced by the Afghan Taliban should take over from today.
Yesterday, the Taliban announced the new government of Afghanistan. The new Islamic government will be headed by Muhammad Ahsan Akhund, while Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar and Mullah Abdul Salam Hanafi will be the deputy heads. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid announced Afghanistan’s new government at a news conference in Kabul.
Zabihullah Mujahid said that Mullah Amir Khan Muttaqi has been appointed as Foreign Minister, Siraj Haqqani as Interior Minister while Maulvi Muhammad Yaqub Mujahid has been appointed as Defense Minister. Maulvi Abdul Hakeem will look after judicial affairs.
Mullah Fazl Akhund will be the Chief of Army Staff of Afghanistan, Mullah Khair Khairkhwa will be the Minister of Information and Culture and Zabih Mujahid will be his deputy, while Mullah Abdul Haq Wasiq will be the head of Intelligence Affairs and Qari Fasihuddin will be the Chief of Security Affairs.
