Teen Climate Change Activist Shames World Leaders

Appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres show, Swedish teen activist spoke candidly

NEW YORK (3rd Nov, 2019): Swedish climate change activist addresses the issue of climate change on American talkshow.

According to the latest climate change update glaciers are shrinking, ice is breaking up on the surface of rivers and lakes. Additionally, plant and animal ranges have also been adversely impacted by the environmental changes. It must be noted, that the climate changes predicted by scientists seem to be coming true at an alarming rate.

Reportedly, Swedish teen, Greta Thunberg at just 16 years old is changing the world by leading a global youth movement and nominated for the Nobel peace price. Her actions reportedly started with a solitary strike outside Sweden’s parliament last year, when based on her efforts, students and workers across the globe flooded the streets demanding action on climate change.

Moreover, Thunberg also attended a United Nations Global Warming conference, where she refused to travel by the plan because of the carbon footprint. During her speech at the United Nations, Thunberg fiercely criticized leaders for their inaction on combating climate change.

She said “You are failing us, but the young people are starting to understand your betrayal.” As a reaction, President Trump of the United States, allegedly mocked the teenage activist by means of a sarcastic tweet. Reportedly, President Trump wrote “She seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future. So nice to see!”

Following the tweet by the US President, when asked if she would like to meet with the President by talkshow host, Ellen DeGeneres Thunberg responded, “I don’t understand why would sit down with President Trump to try to help him understand climate change, don’t see what could tell him that he has not already heard.”

On the other hand, hollywood star, Leonardo DiCaprio has praised the young climate change activist. Taking to Instagram actor and environmentalist, DiCaprio shared a picture with Thurberg as he posted, “There are few times in human history where voices are amplified at such pivotal moments and in such transformational ways – but @GretaThunberg has become a leader of our time.”

The actor continued to write that, “History will judge us for what we do today to help guarantee that future generations can enjoy the same livable planet that we have so clearly taken for granted.”

DiCaprio hopes that the young activists message can serve as a wakeup call for the global leaders stating that the time for inaction is over, he added, “I hope that Greta’s message is a wake-up call to world leaders everywhere that the time for inaction is over. It is because of Greta, and young activists everywhere that I am optimistic about what the future holds. It was an honor to spend time with Greta. She and I have made a commitment to support one another, in hopes of securing a brighter future for our planet.”
