The LHC removes Judge Arshad Malik
Friday, July 3rd: An administrative committee headed by Chief Justice Lahore High Court Qasim Khan has ruled that the Lahore High Court had found Judge Arshad Malik guilty as an inquiry officer. It should be noted that Judge Arshad Malik had convicted Nawaz Sharif.
It may be recalled that PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz had released a video of Judge Arshad Malik after which the services of the accountability court judge were again handed over to the Lahore High Court. Judge Arshad Malik declared the video fake in his affidavit and said I was threatened and was blackmailed.
Judge Arshad Malik’s affidavit filed in the Islamabad High Court said that during the hearing, bribes were repeatedly offered by the representatives and serious consequences were threatened if they did not cooperate.
I was told that Nawaz Sharif was willing to pay the price. The affidavit further said that I met Mehr Jilani and Nasir Janjua in February 2018, shortly after my appointment as a judge of the accountability court. Nasir Janjua said that they recommended me to be a judge. Confirmed by the person present that I did not report the appointment a few weeks ago, I did not think much about this claim.
Judge Arshad Malik further said in his affidavit that a video of Multan was shown to him 16 years ago. After the video, he was warn to cooperate. His tone became threatening. I was also taken to Raiwind and met Nawaz Sharif. Nawaz Sharif said cooperate with what these people are saying. Nawaz Sharif said we will make you rich.
