Tuesday, June 30th: According to a report by Baaghi TV, the coronavirus continues to spread in Pakistan. Many people in Sindh cannot afford basic equipment like oxygen cylinders, oximeters and thermal guns as the equipment has become very expensive.

On the other hand, those who are able to buy medical supplies are not getting the required supplies. After the increase in prices, stockpiling of supplies has also started.

Nasir Hussain, a pharmacist in Karachi, says it has become increasingly difficult to get supplies since the government introduced “smart lockdown” in many parts of the city. Only four “brands” of oxygen cylinders are available in the market, and they are both many times more expensive than their original selling price.

Leading economist Dr Muhammad Zubair Khan says that artificial inflation is a common occurrence in Pakistan where the market can be manipulated. Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Secretary General Dr Qaiser Sajjad has claimed that medical equipment is being sold without the advice or recommendation of a doctor, which could lead to a shortage in the market. He suggested that medical supplies be sold only on the advice of a doctor.

He added that the shortage of beds available in most government hospitals in Sindh has forced many to stay at home. That is why more and more people are buying oxygen cylinders, so there is a shortage of medical supplies in the market.

Dr Sajjad said false and unverified information was being disseminated, such as money being demanded to hand over the bodies of “coronavirus” patients who died in hospitals to their families. He said that there were people among the doctors and paramedical staff who had died of Coronavirus.

According to data released by the Sindh Health Department, a total of 200,093 tests have been conducted across the province, of which 80,446 have been positive. At present, there are 33,131 crore patients in Sindh out of which 31,665 have isolated themselves, while 1,388 are undergoing treatment in 78 public and private hospitals across the province.
