Baaghi TV: Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) leader Raza Haroon has said that the government of Pakistan is waiting for whom at the moment? The cases of K Electric are going on in the UK, their extradition request is pending in the UK, the details shared by the US government in this regard are very worrying.

They are also harmful for Pakistan. As here, K Electric has been allowed to continue its operations, and continue to collect the blood and sweat of the hardworking people of Karachi. K-Electric, KES and Abraaj all face lawsuits in the UK and the US.

It is only our government that has allowed these institutions to function in unison. In these circumstances, there is definitely something that is wrong and a crime that is being covered up.

It should be noted that the founder and chief executive of Abraaj Group in the United States is facing fraud and money laundering cases. Arif Naqvi was arrested last year at the request of the United States, while Scotland says he did nothing wrong in Britain and was arrested only at the request of the United States. Arif Naqvi has also denied the allegations against him.

Lawyers argued that most of the Abraaj Group’s business was in the UK, so the UK was the right place for a criminal trial against them. The defense lawyers asked the court to release Arif Naqvi for two reasons. The first is that his deportation cannot be done under the reason of forum, and the second is that to do so is contrary to the rights of the European Union, Article 3 of the Human Rights Commission.

Defense lawyers also presented a precedent for a previous Love Government of the United States case before the court during brief arguments. They said that Article 83A of the Extradition Act 2003 of the United Kingdom prohibits the deportation of such a person unless it is in the interest of justice to do so.

He said that the purpose of this section was to prevent deportation in which there could be a fair and just trial for the crime and it was not in the interest of justice that the person requested should be extradited to this country.

Arif Naqvi, 59, is currently on bail at his home near Hyde Park Corner. If Karachi-born Arif Naqvi, who has strong ties to Pakistan, is extradited to the United States, he could be sentenced to 291 years in prison. His lawyers told the court that such a long sentence would be equivalent to life imprisonment.
