Lahore, 2nd August: Pakistani top shooter and national champion Ghulam Mustafa Bashir got eliminated from the Olympic race to medal stages.

According to details, national shooter Ghulam Mustafa Bashir had qualified for the medal round at the end of stage one of the 25 m rapid fire pistol shooting competition at the Tokyo Olympics on Sunday

While Bashir was to compete on Monday for another 30m rapid fire pistol in the top six play for the medal round, he was eliminated from the Games after failing in two stages of qualifiers.

Meanwhile, another Pakistani shooter Khalil Akhtar, who could not see a significant performance in Stage 1 and was placed at the 16th position with a total of 286 points, also got eliminated from the medal round.

GM Bashir earned great spotlight yesterday after grabbing the sixth position. However, he could not repeat the same show on Monday morning and slipped down to 10th position at the end of the two-stage qualifier round.

According to reports, Bashir scored 286 points, taking his total points to 579 in the qualifying stage. He started the second round by earning 99 points on the first two series of five shots each in 8 seconds. This achievement brought him to the fifth position.

However, in the next two series of five shots each in six seconds, Bashir managed to get only 95 and 92 points in the final two series of 4 seconds.
