Tom Cruise takes a cruise for his ‘Mission Impossible’

3rd September: To stop further delays in the filming of his latest movie, Tom Cruise has reportedly spent £500,000 to rent an entire cruise ship in Norway.

According to reports from Sky News, the next ‘Mission Impossible’ film is being filmed across Europe however, as the majority of the continent was under lockdown during this pandemic, the production was halted.

Struggling with the social distancing restrictions, the crew had not been able to resume filming since their last time in February in Venice.

If there are any more delays in filming, the release of the yet-to-be-named action film will be pushed forward to 2021.

Therefore, according to reports, Tom Cruise has paid half-a-million-pounds to rent a cruise ship in order to act as a hotel in Norway and serve as safe accommodation for the production crew.

Norway Today shares that the star has booked the MS Fridtjof Nansen, operated by the Norwegian cruise line Hurtigruten, until the end of September while the production of the film will be carried out in the Romsdal district of the country.

Norway allows Tom Cruise to shoot for Mission Impossible

It is believed that the ship will house around 200 people from Norway, along with another 200 international workers, and it will be docked in Hellesylt in the east of the country – around 217 miles (350km) from Bergen. Although, the production company Truenorth has not officially revealed why the ship is being used.

Sky News contacted Hurtigruten for further information and the source shared with The Sun: “Tom is determined not to see any more hold-ups, the studio believes it will keep everyone safe and get this shoot wrapped up.”

Despite Cruise’s good intentions, his decision has been highly criticized by trade unions, which claim that the staff, who are mostly international, could be breaking immigration laws, due to the ship being moored in Norway.

The first ‘Mission Impossible’ was released in 1996, and the seventh part of the dynamic series is expected to hit the cinemas in November 2021. Since it’s release, the franchise has made $3.6bn (£2.95bn) at the box office.
