Tony Bennett sets a new Guinness World Record
Tony Bennett, The Grammy Award-winning singer, made his way up to the Guinness book of world records for being the most senior singer to release an album of new material.
He received this honor for his latest album “Love for Sale,” which is a a collaboration with the popular singer Lady Gaga, released on October 1. During this feat, Bennett was 95 years and 60 days old, according to Guinness.
Gaga ,aged 35, said that despite their drastic age difference, she feels honored to be given the chance to perform alongside the senior singer
This new album celebrates the music of Cole Porter but surprisingly it is not their first time singing together. In the year 2011, Bennett and Gaga released the song titled “The Lady is a Tramp,” and after a brief period of three years they released yet another collaborative album with the title “Cheek to Cheek.”
This isn’t the first record that Tony Bennett has set in his 70-year long career. In fact, according to Guinness he has four other notable achievements which include:
- Being the Oldest person to become No.1 on the US album chart with his prize-winning album “Cheek to Cheek.”
- having the Longest time between UK top 20 albums: which is a recorded period of 39 years.
- Being the Oldest person who entered the UK top 20 album chart for “Duets: An American Classic”.
- Having the Longest time between the release of a brand new recording and a re-recording of the same song by the same singer.
