Tourism and Hospitality in Pakistan: Potential vs. Policies

Pakistan is enriched with mesmerizing mountains, mind fascinating deserts, ethereal view of snow-covered mountains in GB, picturesque plains of Punjab, beautiful beaches of Karachi & Beauty of Balochistan, these all are imbued with majestic attraction and are beyond anyone’s wildest imagination.

Pakistan is of the best tourist destinations of the world which attracts a different type of tourists by offering a diverse range of choices to them. The country is bestowed with innumerable locations of scenic beauty, the oldest civilizations, many religious and historic places, unique arts and crafts imbued with a rich culture. Pakistan was ranked as the world’s best/top tourist destination by the British Backpacker Society in 2018, honoring the country as “one of the friendliest countries on earth, ”Pakistan is home to the world’s most famous heritage sites: like Archaeological Ruins at Moenjodaro, Buddhist Ruins of Takht-i-Bahi and Neighbouring City Remains at Sahr-i-Bahlol, Fort and Shalamar Gardens in Lahore, Historical Monuments at Makli, Thatta, Rohtas Fort, and Taxila.

Pakistan’s Tourism Potential

From east to west & north to south Pakistan is no doubt a land of high adventure and nature. Trekking, mountaineering, white water rafting, mountain and desert jeep safaris, camel and yak safaris, trout fishing, and bird watching are a few activities that entice adventure and nature lovers to Pakistan.
Pakistan is endowed with rich and varied flora and fauna. High Himalayas, Karakoram, 10 of 18 mammalian orders are represented in Pakistan.

Additionally, Pakistan has 108 peaks above 7,000 meters and so many other peaks above 6,000 meters. However, Peaks above 5,000 and 4,000 m are countless.

The hospitality of the Pakistani people

We will consider the Tourism and Hospitality industry of Pakistan which consists of:-

1. Hotels and Motels

The hotels & motels for tourists are very affordable and Pakistani people being too much hospital & generous don’t let foreign tourists pay a single penny.

Tourists are always welcomed with arms fully stretched by locals & also paid with due respect which fascinates foreign tourists to visit Pakistan time and again.

2. Pakistani Food.

Pakistani food is famous worldwide.

Desi food is too scrumptious/ mouthwatering & foreign tourists love to have it. Peshawar is famous for mutton items & Lahore has varieties in food that allows tourists to visit Pakistan again and again.

Promotion of Religious Tourism

Moreover, a recent survey data revealed that a die-hard & willing 83% of the eight million diaspora Sikhs living outside India had shown interest to visit Pakistan ( Kartarpur). Also, 79% of the 20 million Indian Sikhs expressed an interest in visiting Pakistan. In KP, which is dotted with sacred Buddhist sites the government is working with the World Bank to develop a Buddhist trail to attract Buddhists and in particular, monks from across the globe.
