Partnering with Arno Krimmer, Music Legend A.R. Rahman announced a film on Rumi at Noor Royal Gallery.
In this gathering, Rahman paid a tribute to 13th-century poet Rumi on his philosophy of unity and non-judgement. A Muslim singer living in India, A.R. Rahman is well aware of the challenges that ethnic or religious differences can create. Hence, channeling the timeless power of art and themes of unity, the duo aims to circulate the message of peaceful coexistence.

For instance, the Academy Award-winner briefed reporters saying how Rumi carries a distinction among all. How there are poets and philosophers and how there’s Rumi. Even if you don’t believe or understand every statement from the Masnavi, it is very soul-satisfying, because everything is experienced and it comes from a different place. If you take the simplest of wounds, it is a place where the light enters. That’s what happens when somebody is really hurt — there’s a new opening for them in their life, or in their spirituality.”
Above all, Rahman’s partner for the film, Krimmer, claims that making film on Rumi has been a dream for over two decades now. Moreover, he said destiny brought the two together and aligned their passions. He recalled the moment he became “intoxicated” by Rumi’s work. Lastly, he acknowledged how he and Rahman shall face challenges while creating such a film.
Rahman quoted Rumi, “Somewhere beyond right and wrong, there is a garden. I will meet you there,” sharing a worldview that goes beyond the idea of faith and culture. Moreover, he added, “We judge, we label, we divide — good, bad. But beyond all of it, the light of God exists in each of us. Irrespective of belief, it connects us at the core of humanity.”
Hence summing up, Krimmer added that though Rumi is an unusual subject to direct, he is sure of the commercial success of the film.
