Another case has been registered in the state of Uttar Pradesh (UP) against Twitter for allegedly presenting a controversial map of India during the ongoing tussle between the Indian government and popular social media site Twitter.

It was recently revealed that the world map that Twitter has published on its career page “Tweep Life” includes the entire disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir, including Ladakh, as a separate independent state from India. Following the strong reaction of the Indian government and the public, Twitter removed the controversial map from its website on Monday, June 28, 2021.

Parveen Bhatti, a leading activist of the extremist Hindu organization Bajrang Dal, has filed a case against Twitter in Bulandshahr, UP. “This act of treason has been committed deliberately and action should be taken against it,” Bhatti said in his complaint.

“Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir are not shown on the world map as part of India,” Bhatti told Indian media. “This is not a coincidence. It has hurt the feelings of all the Indian people, including me.”

According to Indian media, Modi’s government also intends to issue a notice to Twitter in this regard and ask it to explain why it finally published the map of its choice on its website instead of the map approved by the Indian government. she does. According to reports, a mail was sent to Twitter in this regard earlier, but Twitter did not respond.

The latest incident is the third time that Twitter has portrayed the disputed areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as contrary to the position of the Indian government. In October-November last year, when a live program on Ladakh’s war history was being aired, it also mentioned Ladakh as part of China in Twitter’s geo-tagging.

The social media handle later apologized for it, but a few days later, Twitter described Ladakh as part of Kashmir instead of a separate center-administered area.
