May 21, 2021: An official representative of the voice of over 1.4 billion young people in the commonwealth, and with an agenda to further youth development by integrating young people into developmental work, the Commonwealth Youth Council is holding its elections for the years 2021 to 2023.
The elections this year will see two young Pakistani leaders as participants, namely, Mr. Danish Tariq and Ms. Sania Haider. The two are aspirants for executive positions that are open for elections among 40 candidates.
Tariq, who has extensive experience in the areas of youth development, meaningful youth inclusion and participation, and empowerment, is also well equipped with informed decision-making skills and policy advocacy at National and International levels. He is an aspirant for the post of Vice-Chairperson Inclusion and Engagement of the Commonwealth Youth Council. His aim is to build a structure to connect National Youth Delegates and National Youth Councils using regional liaison representatives in each commonwealth country. His ultimate goal is to engage marginalized societies, minorities, and other socially excluded groups in valuable decision-making, to create a vibrant and cohesive image of inclusivity while becoming a catalyst for the way forward.
On the other hand, Haider who has over 8 years of experience in international youth leadership in areas of peace, education, sustainability, and inclusive development, will be aspiring for the post of Special Interest Representative. Her goal is to expand the scale of her work to include 1.4 billion young people in the Commonwealth. She aims to build partnerships to work for resolving issues such as marginalized youth for a more even society. Her belief in fair treatment for all irrespective of race, gender, faith, ethnicity, or economic status is what leads her to pursue her work support from member states.
