UAE concerned over laboratory quality at Pakistani airports

The Federal Ministry of Health has decided to conduct immediate inspections of laboratories at all the country’s international airports.

Federal officials say most of the staff at laboratories at the airports are untrained.

According to the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), 75,000 passengers from Pakistan flew to the UAE last month, of whom 684 were found to be infected with the coronavirus.

As a result of this, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) had expressed serious concerns over the quality of laboratories in Pakistan after people from Pakistan became infected with the virus.

It is to be noted that the UAE requires all passengers traveling to the UAE to undergo a rapid PCR test about 6 hours before the flight. A short while back, PCR test charges for Pakistanis were reduced to Rs 5000 from the previous Rs 6000.

As it stands, coronavirus is fast spreading in Pakistan with 1,215,821 total cases, 27,004 deaths, and 1,112,236 recovered.
