June 28, 2021: The Secretary of Defense and six senior British military commanders were forced to self isolate themselves after Chief of the Armed Forces General Sir Nick Carter tested positive for the corona virus.

The ministry of defense confirmed in a statement to the Guardian that Carter, the chief of the defense staff, had a “positive result” for Covid19. The Defense Department also said Sunday night that colleagues who met with Carter last week, including Secretary of Defense Ben Wallace, are now isolated.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Defense said: “The Chief of Defense Staff has had a positive experience during the routine Code 19 check. “Colleagues who were in a senior meeting with him last week, including the Secretary of State, are isolating themselves according to government guidelines.” The Telegraph reports that Carter began isolating himself last weekend after a positive investigation, and that the NHS test and trace led to Wallace and the heads of the Royal Navy, RAF and Strategic Command. He was ordered to stay at home after coming into “close contact” with him.

The Army Chief and Carter’s deputy, who also attended the meeting but was a short distance from Carter, spent the weekend isolated as they awaited the results of the PCR test. As a precautionary measure, they are expected to work remotely on Monday. Carter, 62, reportedly tested positive after a meeting at the Chalke Valley History Festival in Wiltshire on Friday at the Defense Academy in Shrewsbury, Oxfordshire.

In addition to Wallace, one of the people allegedly present at Thursday’s meeting was: Adam Sir Tim Fraser, Deputy Chief of Defense Staff; General Sir Mark Carleton Smith, Chief of General Staff; Adm Sir Tony Redaken Air Chief Marshal Sir Mike Wigston and General Sir Patrick Sanders. Members of parliament issued a warning last week that NATO partners had expressed concern about British service personnel who had not been vaccinated abroad. Labor has accused the government of falling short of its responsibility to protect members of the armed forces.

But Secretary of Defense James Heappey insisted that it was true that soldiers were vaccinated according to their age because he said that 95 vaccines had been vaccinated in active operations abroad and 61% had been given a second dose.
