UK Denies Involvement in Pak-NZ Tour Cancellation

British High Commissioner Christian Turner has released an official statement on Twitter after the sudden cancellation of the series between Pakistan and New Zealand due to security threats.

According to the details, the Christian Turner on his official Twitter handle said “speculation that British High Commission was involved in PakvsNZ tour being called off are untrue”.

“This was a decision for the New Zealand authorities & taken independently,” Christian Turner wrote. “I recognise that this is a sad day for cricket fans in Pakistan & around the world who were looking fwd to the series,” the British ambassador added.

It is to be noted that the New Zealand cricket team has announced the sudden cancellation of its tour of Pakistan citing security concerns after which the series between the two teams has been postponed.

It may be recalled that after 18 years, the New Zealand team came to Pakistan to play the series and before the arrival of the team, the New Zealand security team had also expressed satisfaction over the arrangements. Three ODIs between Pakistan and New Zealand were to be played in Rawalpindi and five T20 matches in Lahore. Remember that before coming to Pakistan, the New Zealand team played a series in Bangladesh.

UK removes Pakistan from COVID-19 Red List

It is to be noted that Britain has finally announced to remove Pakistan from the United Kingdom (UK) Travel Advisory Red List which will be effective from September 22, 2021 at 4:00 am (local time).

According to details, after constant pressure from Pakistan, the British government finally removed Pakistan’s name from the red list of travel bans which marks as a great diplomatic success. A total of 8 countries, including Pakistan, have been removed from the red list.
