LONDON: The third wave of covid19 in UK has hit 8125 new cases, according to reports.

Official figures on Friday showed 8,125 new cases, the highest since February 26. The Delta variant, which is considered to be about 40 percent more transmissible than the previous dominant strain, accounts for more than 90 percent of all new infections in the United States.

There are fears that the removal of lockdown in England on June 21 this year could be delayed due to increased cases. Prime Minister Boris Johnson will announce on Monday whether social distance restrictions will be lifted.
