Countries voting in favour included Algeria, Denmark, France, Greece, Guyana, Pakistan, Panama, the Republic of Korea, Sierra Leone, Slovenia, Somalia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The United States also served as the penholder for the draft.
The resolution—adopted on Monday, November 17—authorises the establishment of a multinational force tasked with stabilisation, humanitarian support, and security coordination in Gaza. The move comes amid heightened international concern over civilian casualties, infrastructure collapse, and rising tensions in the enclave.
Diplomatic observers say the strong support within the Security Council indicates broad global consensus on the need for urgent intervention to prevent further deterioration of the situation. Pakistan’s vote in favour highlights Islamabad’s consistent position on humanitarian protection and international oversight in conflict zones.
