UNIDO-NRSP Organized 16-Day of Activism Sessions in District Sujawal

United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) organized “16 Days of Activism training sessions” in collaboration with its implementing partner National Rural Support Programme (NRSP) in District Sujawal’s village Haroon Charo to raise awareness about gender-based violence and empower the local community through capacity-building sessions, creative engagement, and financial literacy training.

The event brought together community members, including youth, women, and children to learn, share, and advocate for a more inclusive and equitable society. The training activities were designed to align with the objectives of the 16 Days of Activism campaign and promote gender equality, financial empowerment, and community involvement in eradicating violence and discrimination. The training was a significant step toward raising awareness and equipping the community with the tools to combat gender-based violence. The event not only educated participants but also fostered creativity, inclusivity, and hope for a more equitable future. Around 45 participants were engaged in these sessions.

Poverty Alleviation and Inclusive Development Across Rural Sindh (PAIDAR) is an EU-funded programme which is being implemented by UNIDO in collaboration with National Rural Support Programme. NRSP is implementing PAIDAR programme in district Sujawal. The event began with a registration process where participants signed in and were provided with event agenda containing information, writing materials, and an agenda for the day. The registration desk was managed by volunteers to ensure a smooth process. The audience of the sessions were enthralled to get participated and remains engaged during the sessions.

The welcome note was delivered by Nazar Joyo-NRSP Team Lead, who greeted participants and highlighted the importance of participation in the in the event. Key points of the sessions include an overview of the 16 Days of Activism initiative, and significance of community involvement in combating gender-based violence. However, the information on the PAIDAR Micro-Grants was also orientated. Participants actively inquired about grant opportunities, indicating a strong interest in economic empowerment.

A presentation was delivered to emphasize the global and local relevance of the 16 Days of Activism campaign. The key points included, Gender-Inclusive Financial Literacy Training, Basics of Financial Management, and Access to Financial Resources. The participants gained confidence in managing their finances, Women showed particular enthusiasm about applying financial concepts to their daily lives.

However, an art exhibition featuring work by local children added a creative and engaging element to the event. The artwork revolved around themes of peace, equality, and resilience.
