A US General, belonging to top cadre, stated on Thursday that his country seeks strong military ties with Pakistan.
According to reports of Baaghitv, General Mark A Milley, who has been nominated as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, in his response to a question asked by Senate Armed Services Committee for his confirmation as Joint Chiefs of Staff said, “While we have suspended security assistance and paused major defense dialogues, we need to maintain strong military-to-military ties based on our shared interests,”
These remarks are made by US General ahead of Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan visit of USA, which will take place later this month.
He recognized and acknowledged efforts made by Pakistan in Afghan reconciliation process bringing an end to US longest war that has spanned over 18 years. Pakistan holds a special place in US president’s South Asian Strategy, where Pakistan is playing an important role in achieving political settlement in Afghanistan, defeating ISKP in Afghanistan.
