Utility Stores closed just a day before Ramadan
Lahore, 24th April: The country which is already going through a pandemic crisis has yet had to face another problem at hand. Exploitation at every end is a characteristic of our society.
According to Baaghi TV, the Utility Stores in the country have shut down just before the start of the Holy month of Ramadan, when people were supposed to stalk up their supplies, the store announced its closure.
It is reported that the employees of the Utility Stores have gone on strike. The government had announced a relief package for the general public but the utility store employees have shut down the stores in Lahore and other important cities after demanding protective kits and one-month bonus salaries.
COVID-19: Number of confirmed cases in Pakistan
The President of Utility Stores Worker Association after a failed dialogue with the MD gave a call for the closure of the utility store and announced that strike will continue till the demands are accepted.
All Pakistan Workers Association Chief Arif Shah claimed that workers at the utility stores are deprived of basic rights. The claims were made that despite several requests no efforts were made to capture and sentencing the murder culprits of Malik Altaf a utility store worker at Mandi Bahudin.
It was reiterated that workers will remain on strike till the time their demands for protective kits and bonus for one month is not accepted.
