Senior politician Mian Muhammad Azhar has passed away while undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

A seasoned political figure, Mian Azhar began his career as a grassroots worker and rose to prominence, serving as Mayor of Lahore from 1987 to 1991 and as Governor of Punjab from 1990 to 1992. He was also elected as a Member of the National Assembly from Lahore’s Constituency NA-129.

Initially affiliated with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Mian Azhar later joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) during Nawaz Sharif’s exile. His death marks the end of an era in Punjab’s political landscape.
