PESHAWAR, (Qazi Abu Bakr, Senior Crime Reporter), August 10, 2020: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police have arrested a fake saint who attempted to exorcise a young child by applying electric shock.

The day before, a video went viral on a social networking site in which a man was seen torturing and electrocuting a young child. The accused claimed that he was attempting to rid the child of a supernatural possession by performing an exorcism through electric shock.

When the video went viral on social media, users demanded the arrest of the man and asked the authorities to take stern action against him. Police reported on a social networking site that the accused was arrested after identifying the man who had abused and electrocuted the child in a video that went viral on social media.

According to a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police spokesman, “Peshawar police in an operation in the Achini Bala area arrested a fake saint identified as Muhammadullah son of Qudratullah.”

According to police officials, the man, who used to show off his legs and take off people’s jinn (supernatural being), used to torture and electrocute the victim while he was studying.

Moreover, according to KP police spokesman, the fake saint has been arrested and a case registered against him.

Rawalpindi police are continuing operations against the criminals of Pir Wadhai police. Police arrested a fake saint during the operation. The pretend saint was identified as Muhammad Ijaz Awan. The accused had set up a fake Pir Khana in Street No. 2, Mohalla Imambargah.

According to the police, the fake saint used to plant a wheelbarrow of potatoes and chickpeas in Awan Colony. Later, he started fooling the people by disguising himself as a saint.

According to SHO Pir Wadhai police station, the accused used to rob innocent people under the pretext of amulets. A case has been registered against the accused and investigation has been started. SP Rawal Division Asif Masood said that no illegal act can be allowed, action will be taken against violators without any discrimination.
