During a two-day workshop on women, it was revealed that the Corona pandemic has also increased violence against women in domestic businesses where they have been most affected.

The revelation was made at a two-day training workshop on women’s participation in the political process and the local government system in Quetta, jointly organized by the Women’s Foundation and the South Asia Partnership.

Addressing the workshop, Allauddin Khilji, Regional Director, Women’s Foundation Quetta, said that the corona virus has increased the hardships of women in all respects while the economic situation has also increased the incidence of violence against women.

He said that a society free from violence is the only guarantee of sustainable development. Yasmeen Mughal, project officer of the Women’s Foundation’s “Jazba” program, said the corona virus has severely affected women involved in economic activities in Pakistan.

She said that significant steps at government and non-government level are essential for the rehabilitation of such women, otherwise millions of middle class families in the country would be forced to live below the poverty line due to economic hardship. The monster of poverty in the country will increase further.
