The recent Wana Cadet College attack and the Islamabad bomb blast have once again exposed a harsh reality Pakistan can no longer afford to ignore. The idea of “brotherhood” with Afghanistan has turned into a painful illusion — one that continues to cost us lives, peace, and national dignity. It is time for Pakistan to respond — and respond decisively.
For over four decades, Pakistan has sheltered millions of Afghan refugees. We gave them food, homes, education, and protection when their own state had collapsed. We were the first nation to recognize their government and the only neighbor to stand by them through endless wars and crises. Our generosity was unmatched — but our goodwill was mistaken for weakness.

Today, those very people — whom we nurtured and supported — are allowing their soil to be used for terror plots, bombings, and attacks on Pakistan’s armed forces. From Wana’s cadet college, where our future leaders were targeted, to Islamabad, where innocent citizens lost their lives, the message is loud and clear: patience is being misread as helplessness.
The Afghan leadership must realize that Pakistan’s tolerance is not infinite. Diplomatic efforts, friendly appeals, and humanitarian assistance have been extended for forty years. Yet, what we now face is a pattern of betrayal and bloodshed — a campaign to destabilize Pakistan from across the border.
This is the time to shift gears — from tolerance to deterrence. Pakistan must set firm red lines and act with strength when they are crossed. The security of our people, our soldiers, and our sovereignty can no longer be compromised in the name of goodwill.

We stood by Afghanistan when no one else did. But if that friendship is repaid with bombs and bullets, then our response must be iron, not empathy.
The nation expects resolve. The martyrs demand justice.
From Wana to Islamabad — the message is clear: Pakistan must act now.
