According to a report by Baaghi TV, the farmers’ movement has entered its 20th day on the Sanghu border of Delhi against the Modi government’s agricultural laws.
Farmers are also protesting on the Tikri border of Delhi and their protest has entered its 20th day. Farmers say that no matter what happens, we will not go without having our demands met. “There is a lack of arrangements, we do not have toilets and drinking water,” said one farmer. “We will die of disease, but we will not return until our demands are met”.
In Delhi, the Congress protested outside the BJP office in support of the farmers. A large number of Congress workers reached outside the BJP office and chanted slogans. The Congress workers also demanded that the government accept the demands of the farmers and withdraw the agricultural law.
“It is learned that Adani and Ambani groups have registered 53 new agro-related companies. Our protest will continue till the voice of farmers is heard,” said JS Gill, Congress MP from Punjab.
“If the police harass us, the farmers will be forced to tie up their cattle in the police station,” said Rakesh Takit, leader of the Indian Farmers Union. Farmers coming to Delhi from Uttar Pradesh are being harassed in various places. If this trend continues, the farmers will completely block Delhi if need be.
The Agriculture Minister has had six meetings with the farmers but, Indian Prime Minister Modi has neither spoken to them nor expressed the need for any meeting with them. However, according to Indian media reports, he may meet Sikh farmers there during his visit to Gujarat today.
Hundreds of thousands of farmers are protesting across the Delhi border against the three agricultural laws passed by the Modi government in Parliament. After Punjab and Haryana, the movement is also gaining the support of farmers in Uttar Pradesh and farmers in several states have expressed solidarity with the protesters. Many rounds of government talks with farmers have failed. Now the fire of protest is spreading from village to village and people’s anger is growing. A large number of farmers are preparing to go to Delhi and join the protest.
