West Indies set 158-run target to beat Australia

West Indies gave Australia a 158-run target to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Super 12 stage and sources claim they have a better chance of winning.

In the match being played in Abu Dhabi, Australia captain Aaron Finch won the toss and invited West Indies captain Karen Pollard to bat.

West Indies scored 157 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs, with skipper Karen Pollard (44) and Shimron Heitmeyer (24) scoring the most runs.

In addition, Andre Russell scored 18, Chris Gayle 15 and Dwayne Bravo 10 runs. Josh Hazelwood took four wickets for Australia while Adam Zampa, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins took one wicket each.

Keep in mind that South Africa and England will face each other in the second match today. At present, England is first in Group One, Australia is second and South Africa is third in the points table.

However, in Group 1, the dream of the West Indies, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to reach the semi-finals has been shattered.

The West Indies batsman Chris Gayle may not have entertained the fans with his batting in the T20 World Cup but he will always be remembered as a great player.

Chris Gayle, 42, who came to bat in the Group 12 league match against Australia in the T20 World Cup wearing colored glasses, appeared in an aggressive mood and he also showed a glimpse of him by hitting two sixes but unfortunately he was late. He could not stay on the wicket and made 15 runs off 9 balls and was bowled by Pat Cummins.

When Chris Gayle came on the field to bat against Australia, all the players of the team applauded and paid tribute to him and when he got out and returned to the pavilion, the aggressive left-handed batsman shook his head. Cricket fans received gifts and hugs from the players.

Neither the West Indies Cricket Board nor Chris Gayle has formally announced his retirement, but foreign website Kirk Info shared a photo of Chris Gayle on social media and wrote, “It’s over.”

Chris Gayle has scored 1899 runs in 79 T20 Internationals with the help of two centuries and 14 half centuries.

Two days ago, West Indian star all-rounder and two-time T20 World Cup winning team Devine Bravo also announced his retirement from T20 cricket.
