What are the reasons for prolonged load shedding in Karachi? NEPRA team completes investigation

A four-member investigation team of NEPRA has returned to Islamabad after reviewing the situation regarding prolonged and unannounced load shedding in Karachi.

A four-member team led by DG Monitoring and Enforcement NEPRA Nadir Khoso visited different areas of the city for 4 days. The team reviewed the ground realities of load shedding in Karachi.

The investigation team also visited the K Electric office and power plants. During the visit, the team also reviewed the K Electric supply system along with the supply and demand statistics of furnace oil.

The NEPRA team will prepare its report and submit it to the Authority. In the light of the report, NEPRA will announce its decision regarding K Electric.

It may be mentioned that the citizens of Karachi can now lodge complaints of load shedding and overbilling directly to NEPRA, for which an e-mail address has also been issued. Consumers can also register their complaints in person.

According to the grievance center, any citizen of Karachi can lodge complaints on other issues including electric performance, over-billing, copy of the bill and application can be submitted to NEPRA office on other complaints including meter reading being incorrect.

According to NEPRA, from the submission of application on the complaint regarding additional billing, the bill which will not be paid will be frozen till the approval of the bill. Until the approval of the bill of NEPRA, the electricity connection of this citizen will not be cut off.
