What has prompted Boris Johnson to carry out a ‘brutal’ cabinet reshuffle?

Some reflections from Ejaz Hussain

When Boris Johnson was doing his first-degree at Balliol College, Oxford (1983-86) he earned a ludicrous reputation for being mercurial, but opportunistic.

He has amply demonstrated by reshuffling his erstwhile fledgling cabinet that he is one of the most rancorous, ingrate, and fluky politicians Britain has seen since WW-2.

It may not be fallacious to compare him with Pervez Ilahi of Gujarat in grabbing opportunities, Narendra Modi in pursuing nationalistic jingoism, and Shehbaz Sharif in contemporary political mercurialism. He is an even mix of Benjamin Disraeli and Winston Churchill—two great British prime ministers with unbridled disliking for Islam and Muslims.

I don’t consider BoJo a Muslim-hater because he sacked Sajid Javid as Chancellor of Exchequer. Javid is son of a Muslim but at the time of signing allegiance to the Westminster Parliament in May 2010 he openly declared himself an atheist—which is documented in Hansard parliamentary records.

Lets analyze how and why he has got four Hindu MPs in his cabinet?

1) Priti Patel—Home Secretary (48), an MP from Witham, Essex. She has a Gujarati origin—close family affinity with Indian PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. She is extremely ambitious since mid-1990s when she was working with Jemima Khan’s father—Sir Goldsmith. She was an active member of the Referendum Party until Sir Goldsmith failed to win any seat in 1997 general election.

Priti Patel, ostensibly, is making substantive political gains for BoJo and the Tory party—but the real beneficiary is the BJP/RSS leadership who is making Britain’s Hindu community stronger and aggressive since 2016.

Ms Patel who has an English husband Alex Sawyer—is deeply entrenched into British political/business/intel establishment.

During next five years, she might change demographic dynamics of Brits from South Asian origin—in favour of Hindus and pro-BJP/RSS Sikhs.

2) Rishi Sunak—Chancellor of Exchequer/deputy PM (40). He is MP from Richmond, Yorkshire. After a first degree from Oxford in 2002, Sunak moved to US and married the daughter of a Hindu billionaire in IT business. Sunak himself is a multimillionaire—strong family ties with CEOs of Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Infosys, Wipro, SAP, Sage and other global IT giants. Sunak is a devout Hindu and is close to Premier Modi.

He will make sure India makes optimal gains vis-à-vis cyber technology/eCommerce and banking. Sunak has strong lobby in FATF, WB, IMF, WTO and US DoS/DoD.

3) Alok Sharma—Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, (52). He was born in Agra, UP and moved to Britain as a toddler, along with his parents. He is MP from Reading West, Berkshire.

The title of his powerful ministry is self-explanatory—control over UK businesses, energy sector and the industry.

He will work closely with PM BoJo and Chancellor Sunak.

4) Suella Braverman—Attorney General (40), MP from Foreham, Hampshire. She was born and schooled in Harrow, Middlesex.

Her father Christie Fernandes is a Goan Indian whereas mother Uma is a Hindu from Mauritius.
Suella was educated at Cambridge and later Sorbonne, Paris. She is a Barrister—specialising in civil & criminal law.

She is not aligned to Narendra Modi yet—but soon Priti Patel, Rishi Sunak and Alok Sharma will lure her into the web of BJP/RSS.

Being UK’s principal law officer, Suella will wield immense power.

* In short—this massive cabinet reshuffle seems to be favourable to India.

PM BoJo will demonstrate a clear tilt towards India during next five years—and this is what the Trump administration expects from him from other side of Atlantic, especially after being divorced by EU.
BoJo is seeing India as market/business replacement of EU.
