When the world suddenly closes down on you

I discovered lately that a friend of mine was affected with COVID-19. His only son had fallen victim shortly afterwards now both struggling, and battling to overcome the trauma, the fright and paranoia.

Today early morning I received his son’s call, and to my horror, his father was having problems in breathing and needed to be rushed to a hospital.

[bs-quote quote=”It appears all hospitals have refused from taking the patient in. The only son, who is struggling himself is running around begging hospitals to admit his father.” style=”style-17″ align=”center” color=”#dd0000″ author_name=”Mian Haroon Masood ” author_job=”Political Leader, Pakistan”][/bs-quote]

The first call I received was at 5 am. Later in the morning, they landed at Farooq hospital. Probably the Aitchisonian connection worked. He is breathing but through an oxygen cylinder. I was aghast to see his x ray. Partially it has whitened. His very life, is now hanging by a thread. I am traumatized doing all I can to save my friend’s life. I did speak to Dr. Tanveer who is a renowned pulmonologist, he said the Defence hospital is full to its capacity. We are still in the process of relocating him to another hospital, probably Bahria, where renowned Dr. Javad carries out his professional obligations.

It’s so alarming. I am being consumed by the fear, what is gonna happen next. I sent his x rays to another friend in Canada, Rana Mustafa, a pulmonologist doing his stuff online.

Under this precariously dangerous situation someone like the Chinese how they developed hospitals in their country in the event of COVID for their infected patients in minimum time must be hired for the job. This is a race against time. Unquestionably, the provision of 1,000 beds in all major cities without any argument. Willfully what has been ignored in the past comes to haunt us now that the patients are dying for want of proper care and contemptible neglect. And now you say no possible vacancy anywhere making things only worse.

[bs-quote quote=”We are at the mercy of humble circumstances. God help us! We shouldn’t forget Adam Smith’s perspicuous observation that the ‘masters of mankind’ – in his day, the merchants and manufacturers of England – never cease to pursue their ‘vile maxim’: ‘All for ourselves, and nothing for other people.'” style=”style-17″ align=”center” color=”#dd0000″ author_name=”Mian Haroon Masood ” author_job=”Political Leader, Pakistan “][/bs-quote]

This maxim holds good for our Pakistani ruling elite too.

People’s lives matter, openly our men seem to be now saying we can’t breathe. It’s all a question of people getting the right treatment in their respective countries. Health remains one area where lives can’t just be taken lightly. The disproportionate loss of lives of the African-Americans in America is another cause of the riots that now are taking place across the USA. Let this not be the case here as well.

The long standing issue of health care and the fledgling system is in complete shambles, the affairs absolutely shambolic, in our dear country.

Without hesitation more energy now should be channeled in trying to identify the ills, the poor health conditions of our almost non existent well equipped hospitals.

One billion should have been earmarked for every district during the last regimes. It would have worked wonders. Instead of metros and orange trains which have gobbled up gargantuan amounts, is yet a big question mark beyond a common mans comprehension. First and foremost the hospitals nothing but health facilities.
