Why are male celebrities painting their nails?

Lahore, 20th October: Celebrities from Pakistan showbiz industry and sports are sharing pictures on social media protesting against sexual abuse of children by painting one of their nails.

Baaghi TV: An international campaign called ‘The Polished Man’ aims to raise awareness among governments and the public about the growing violence against children.

As part of an international campaign called ‘Polished Man’ to raise awareness, men from different walks of life in Pakistan have also applied a nail colour on one of their fingers to express their solidarity with the children. 

According to the British Broadcasting Corporation, the campaign began in Australia in 2014 and is now slowly spreading around the world. Every year between October 1 and 15, men and women around the world apply nail polish on one of their fingernails and share their picture on social media as part of this awareness campaign.

Wasim Akram said that more than one billion children are abused by their elders every year. He applied nail polish on one finger and shared the photo on his Instagram account, inviting all the other people to be a part of this campaign and asked them to be a part of this campaign and show solidarity with the children.

On the other hand, Adnan Siddiqui said that every child deserves the right to feel safe. But here we are in 2020 where more than 10 children a day are abused and tortured in Pakistan. A lot of lives are being taken at the hands of an adult and it needs to end.
