Baaghi TV: Former US President George W. Bush has likened the attack on Capitol Hill to Banana Republic.
George W. Bush said in a statement that some politicians acted irresponsibly to create institutional controversy after the election. “Controversial elections are held in Banana republic, not in a democratic country like the United States,” he said.
On the other hand, former US President Obama said that the attack on the US House of Representatives is not surprising but shameful. Pro-Trump protesters stormed Capitol Hill during a joint session of both houses of Congress.
The purpose of the meeting was to formally confirm Biden’s victory in the presidential election. According to BBC News, a woman was killed in the riots and several protesters were arrested. Clashes broke out between protesters and security forces as barricades were broken.
Trump supporters say Biden rigged the presidential election. During the riots, security was tightened in the US House of Representatives and US Vice President Mike Pence was evacuated. To disperse the demonstrators, the police used tear gas and later, the American capital had been under curfew for 12 hours in Washington.
According to US media, the curfew will be in effect from 6 pm to 6 am local time. U.S. officials have ordered protesters to leave Washington, D.C., before 6 p.m.
On the other hand, according to the American media, the American establishment cut off communication with President Trump. Mike Pence is being consulted for the presidency for 14 days. The defense and foreign ministers and the Republican leadership are involved in the consultation. Speaker Nancy Pelosi has said that the presidential verification process will be completed today.
