The purpose of the meeting was to formally confirm Biden’s victory in the presidential election. According to BBC News, a woman was killed in the riots and several protesters were arrested. Clashes broke out between protesters and security forces as barricades were broken.

To disperse the demonstrators, the police used tear gas and later, the American capital had been under curfew for 12 hours in Washington.

On the other hand, according to the American media, the American establishment cut off communication with President Trump. Mike Pence is being consulted for the presidency for 14 days. The defense and foreign ministers and the Republican leadership are involved in the consultation. Speaker Nancy Pelosi has said that the presidential verification process will be completed today.
