Woman in Mali gives birth to nine, joins tiny ranks of nonuplet mothers
During her pregnancy, diagnostics has revealed the presence of 7 babies in her womb, 2 less than were actually there.
Cisse’s case has fascinated the West African nation of Mali and when doctors detected the multiple pregnancies, she was flown to Morocco to receive specialist treatment and care, following which she gave birth to the 9 babies via caesarean section.
The health minister of Mali, Fanta Siby informed the public that the new mother and her babies, five girls and four boys were all healthy and doing well.
The event where a woman delivers nonuplets is extremely rare. More often than not, medical complications in multiple births of this kind usually mean that some of the babies do not reach full term.
