Years after launch, Inquiry of corruptions at PPWD incomplete

Islamabad August 28 (Online): Years after launch, inquiry into billions of rupees corruptions in the ministry of Housing and Works could not be completed, sources said on Friday.

The sources said that officers who were allegedly involved in the corruptions and corrupt practices have been retired after completing their services.

According to documents with Online, the housing ministry managers rewarded over Rs 27 billions contracts to contractors of their choice through illegal means and earned huge amount. However, despite years have gone for alleged corruption, corrupt managers could not be identified.

PPWD allegedly spent more than Rs15 billion in terms of development funds release by President and Prime Minister illegally.

During the tenure of the former government, Rs 22 billions development schemes were completed and billions of rupees were earned through illegal means.

According to the report, the PPWD managers instead of following orders of members parliament, causes over Rs3 billion losses to the national exchequer on the directions of influential persons.
