According to the report of Baaghi TV, the verdict in the Noor Muqaddam murder case has been announced. The court sentenced Zahir Jaffer, the main accused in the Noor Muqaddam murder case, to death. Additional Sessions Judge Ata Rabbani sentenced the main accused Zahir Jaffer to death. The court sentenced co-accused Zahir Jaffer’s employees Jamil and Iftikhar to 10 years in prison.

According to reports, the court has acquitted the parents of the accused and employees of Therapy Works. Zahir Jaffer’s dramatics did not work, as the court pronounced the verdict and sentenced the main accused Zahir Jaffer to death. The court provided a copy of the verdict to the convict Zahir Jaffer.

In addition to the death sentence, Zahir Jaffer has been indicted on three charges. In a written decision, the court said that the convict Zahir Jaffer is sentenced to death for murder. The convict will pay Rs 5 lakh as compensation to the family of Noor Muqaddam. If the offender does not pay the family, his land and/or any property will be included in the arrears. If the offender does not deposit Rs 5 lakh, he will also have to serve 6 months imprisonment. In addition, Jaffer has been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 200,000 for rape. The accused should pay the fine to the heirs of the victim. Zahir Jaffar has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and a Rs 100,000 fine for the crime of kidnapping, one-year imprisonment for the crime of section 342.

The written verdict stated that the accused Mohammad Jan has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of one lakh under sections 109 and 364. The accused has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment under section 368 and a fine of Rs one lakh. The accused has been sentenced to one-year imprisonment and a fine of one lakh under section 176. Accused Iftikhar has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and one lakh fine under sections 109 and 364. According to Baaghi TV reports, a large number of people were present at the time of the verdict including former Ambassador Shaukat Muqaddam – father of the victim, lawyers, and media representatives. Strict security arrangements were made for the occasion with a heavy contingent of police deployed outside the court. The main accused Zahir Jaffer was also presented in court at the time the verdict was passed. 

A total of 12 accused were interrogated in the case, out of which four accused namely main accused Zahir Jaffer, his father Zakir Jaffer, security guard Iftikhar, and gardener Jan Mohammad remained in custody. The other eight suspects were released on bail during the trial. Six of those released were employees of Therapy Works, while the other two included the mother of the main accused Zahir Jaffer and his cook Jamil.

Prior to the verdict, speaking to media personnel, Noor Muqaddam’s father said that he is hopeful justice would be served. He stated that he hoped the rule of law would prevail, we have demanded maximum punishment for the accused. I have full faith in my daughter, she was a good girl and she didn’t do anything wrong. CCTV footage also proved that Noor Muqaddam was held, hostage. Shaukat Muaqaddam added, “We trust the court, we hope justice will be done. Everyone who has wronged, will be punished”. 

Earlier, in a hearing of Noor Muqaddam’s murder case in District and Sessions Court Islamabad, lawyers reached the court. Therapy Works employees also appeared in court following the court order for their attendance. The staff informed the lawyers and employees of Therapy Works of the time for the verdict. Four accused, including the main accused Zahir Zakir Jaffer, were produced in the court of Additional Sessions Judge, Ata Rabbani.

According to reports, Judge Ata Rabbani ordered that everyone leave the courtroom stating, “I have to talk to the accused. All the people should get out of the courtroom”. 

Two days ago, the court reserved judgment on the completion of the arguments. A speedy trial of Noor murder case continued for 4 months and 8 days. The statements of 19 witnesses were recorded in the case. Noor Muqaddam was killed on July 20, 2021, in Sector F-7, Islamabad. In the Noor Muqaddam murder case, the plaintiff’s lawyers Shah Khawar, Nisar Asghar, and Babar Hayat Samoor completed their arguments. The accused were asked to be punished severely.

It is pertinent to note that 12 others including main accused Zahir Jaffer were indicted in the Noor Muqaddam murder case. Accused Zahir Jaffer, Zakir Jaffer, Ismat Adam, Iftikhar, Jamil, Jan Mohammad were indicted. Six other accused, including Tahir Zahoor of Therapy Work, were also indicted. Accused Zahir Jaffer, his parents, and other accused are reportedly in Adiala Jail. Zahir Jaffar’s parents are charged with aiding and abetting in the Noor Muqaddam murder case.

Accused Zahir Jaffer performed ‘dramatics’ on the occasions of his court appearances, sometimes he was brought in by the police, sometimes he was brought in on a wheelchair, other times he was brought on a stretcher. In view of these dramatics, Zahir Jaffer’s lawyer applied for a medical check-up of the accused, which was rejected by the court. It is pertinent to note that the main accused Zahir Jaffer had told the court in his statement that he did not kill Noor, although the police investigation and evidence proved that he had killed 27-year-old Noor Muqaddam.

It is pertinent to note that former Ambassador Shaukat Ali Muqaddam’s daughter was killed last year. Shaukat Muqaddam’s, 27-year-old daughter who was killed in the jurisdiction of Kohsar police station Islamabad, while giving a statement regarding the murder said he had received a call from Kohsar police station that his daughter had been killed. He added that when “I arrived at the scene, my daughter’s throat was slit”.

According to Baaghi TV reports, a case of murder of Noor Muqaddam has been registered in Kohsar police station. Police say a case has been registered under Section 302 of the IPC on the complaint of the girl’s father Shaukat Ali Muqaddam.
