Aug 10, 2021: Significant progress has been made in the murder trial against Zahir Jaffer, according to a Baaghi TV report.
Significant progress was made in the murder trial against Zahir Jaffer after the names of all persons of interest placed on ECL according to Sheikh Rasheed.
Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed visited NADRA headquarters today, after which in a media briefing, he said in response to a question that the names of all the people involved in the Noor Muqaddam case have been entered in the ECL and none of the persons of interest will be allowed to flee the country.
In the Zahir Jaffer trial, users on the social networking site Twitter had demanded that the accused be influential so that their names be included in the ECL so that they could not flee abroad, IG Islamabad Qazi Jameel-ur-Rehman said.
He also had a meeting with the investigation team of Noor Muqadam case and directed to include the name of accused Zahir Zakir involved in the case in the ECL list. Zahir Jaffer’s parents have also been arrested and are in jail on judicial remand. The bail application of Zahir Jaffar’s parents was rejected by the court.
It should be noted that the daughter of the former ambassador was killed within the limits of Kohsar police station in Islamabad.
According to the father of the deceased, Shaukat Muqaddam, when he arrived at the scene of the crime, his daughter, ie Noor Muqaddam has been killed and her throat was slit.
It is to be noted that while the accused, Zahir Jaffer has a US citizenship, the US embassy in Pakistan has already distanced themselves from the actions of the accused, Zahir Jaffer.
Moreover, investigators probing the murder of former ambassador Shaukat Ali Mukadam’s daughter are seeking criminal record, if any, of the alleged killer from the United States and the United Kingdom.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Investigation Attaur Rehman said that they had written to the relevant authorities to approach the US and UK for obtaining criminal record of the accused, Zahir Jaffer.
“The reason for seeking the criminal record is to verify information about Zahir Jaffer’s involvement in sexual harassment and rape cases in the UK, which led to his deportation from the country,” Mr Rehman said.
According to sources, a district and sessions court in Islamabad has extended the judicial remand of the parents of Zahir Jaffer, the prime suspect, till Monday, August 23 2021. This means that they will remain imprisoned at Adiala Jail.
Authorities have ordered the jail officers to rescind all the preferential facilities given to Zahir Jaffer. Moreover, he has also been shifted to solitary confinement at Adiala Jail.
