5 suspects arrested in the murder of ATC Judge

Lahore, 5th April: Five suspects have been arrested in the case of the horrific killing of Swat’s anti-terrorism court’s (ATC) judge and his family.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, 5 suspects were arrested on Monday in connection with the murder of an ATC judge and his family members that took place on late Sunday night.

Baaghi TV reported last night that Judge Aftab Afridi was travelling to Islamabad from Peshawar when unknown men opened fire at his car at the Swabi Interchange on Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway.

As per reports, Judge Afridi, his wife Zainab, daughter-in-law Kiran and three-year-old grandson Muhammad Sanan died on the spot while their driver was seriously injured.

An anonymous police official told Dawn News that it is suspected to be a targeted attack.

As per reports, after an operation carried out by the joint operation team in Peshawar, the police captured 5 suspects. The police have also taken the two vehicles mentioned in the FIR into custody.

It is being said that the deceased judge’s son, Majid Afridi will identify the suspects.

The judge’s son has filed an FIR and stated that his father was travelling to Islamabad after attending a wedding in Peshawar. He also informed that his wife was six months pregnant.

In the FIR, six suspects have been named including Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Abdul Latif Afridi.
