9 Police Personnel, Including 2 SHOs, Martyred in Terrorist Attack on Checkpoint in Ziarat

At least nine police personnel, including two Station House Officers (SHOs), were martyred when terrorists attacked a police checkpoint in the Kach Mangi Phase III area of Ziarat district early Tuesday.

According to the Deputy Commissioner of Ziarat, armed militants targeted the checkpoint, triggering a heavy exchange of fire. The bodies of the slain officers were transferred to the District Headquarters Hospital in Ziarat.

Local sources claimed the death toll could be higher, up to 15, and suggested some personnel may have been abducted, though these reports remain unverified. Protesters blocked the Ziarat crossing, demanding authorities recover any missing personnel. Security forces have initiated a search operation in the area.

No terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. The incident underscores the ongoing security threats in parts of Balochistan.

The Balochistan government and senior officials are expected to strongly condemn the attack. Security measures have been tightened across the district as investigations proceed.
