Anthony Joshua asks for a Rematch with Oleksandr Usyk

Anthony Joshua says he is different and will not sulk after losing to Oleksandr Usyk; he wants a rematch and will bounce back from losing his heavyweight title.

Boxer Anthony Joshua said he “was unable to see in cycle nine” after an eye injury he had in Saturday’s 12-round battle with the Ukrainian fighter at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. His advertiser, Eddie Hearn, proposed his client might have experienced a messed up eye attachment.

“I can’t return and mope – that is fooling around,” Joshua, 31, said.

After the fight between Joshua and Oleksandr turned out badly, the crushed and defeated Briton said:

“I was unable to fight in the 10th round, couldn’t see anything truly in light of the fact that my eye was closed. It was a decent encounter considering that in affliction you’ve quite recently had the chance to figure out how to control yourself, keep steady over things, so when I was unable to see anything – it’s whenever that it’s previously occurred in a battle.”

Hearn had said that Joshua gave Usyk, 34, an excessive amount of regard and would need to make “major changes” to recover the World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Organization (WBO), and International Boxing Federation (IBF) titles he lost in the battle.

Anthony Joshua has a rematch proviso in his agreement with Usyk, and later affirmed he would take it. He added:

“When I was strolling back through the passage, I just said to myself, ‘I’m prepared to return to the rec center, I’m prepared to simply place that work in’. I simply need to return to the exercise center, get back on the pound, and improve, so when I battle these heroes and see that they are harmed I can exploit the chance.”

Though Joshua was devastated, he said he was not a sulker and he would come back to take his titles back, even stronger.
