Black state trooper faces termination for allegations of murder
October 16th: A Black state trooper in Louisiana who accused his colleagues of being involved in the murder of Ronald Greene says that he was given the threat of being fired.
Carl Cavalier had described what he thought was a cover-up to protect the troopers who played a part in Ronald Greene’s death.
On May 10, 2019, Greene was killed in a police chase with Louisiana State Police (LSP) near Monroe, Louisiana. Greene’s family said that they were notified by LSP that Greene had died in a car accident, but dash camera video that was released to the public two years later gave a different outlook to the story.
The videos show that Greene was subjected to physical torture in which he was tased, kicked and punched by the police officers officers before he died in their custody.
Two troopers involved in the heinous incident were arrested that night and were further detained for not following procedures including compulsory body-worn cameras. A third trooper was terminated for violating regulations such as not wearing body-worn cameras, car camera systems, using force, poor performance, unlawfulness and misconduct as an officer.
