The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has allowed Qatar Airways to airlift South Korean diplomats and nationals from Pakistan through chartered flights.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, the Director Air Transport issued a formal circular in this regard on Friday, saying that three Qatar Airways flights will land in Islamabad on April 21.

Two South Korean diplomats will also arrive in Islamabad from Doha on those flights. Earlier South Korean Embassy in Islamabad wrote a letter to Pakistan Foreign Ministry seeking permission to operate special flights for repatriation of South Korean nationals.

Thousands of American and British diplomats and citizens had recently left Islamabad for their homes in chartered flight including from Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

About 800 Pakistani-Americans had returned to the US earlier this month, despite an unprecedented spread of the coronavirus across the US.

They had been repatriated to the US via three chartered flights from the Islamabad Airport. After permission was granted by the Pakistan government, the US Embassy in Islamabad arranged special flights for those who wanted to return to their families in America.

The government had granted permission to the US embassy to operate three chartered flights, two from Islamabad and one from Karachi to repatriate American citizens on April 10, 11 and 12.

The process to repatriate British nationals is still underway despite hundreds of them had already left Islamabad in PIA special flights.
