The Prime Minister has issued a major directive for bringing madrassahs into the mainstream. Baaghi TV reports that the Prime Minister has declared the ending of class distinction in the education system is our foremost priority.

The Prime Minister has directed that the efforts for the drafting and nationwide implementation of a uniform system of education need to be sped up.

The Prime Minister has also directed that the process for bringing madrassahs into the mainstream, teaching modern sciences to their students, and imparting skills to them, under the strategy agreed on with the madrassah management, should also be ramped up.

Regarding the situation created by the corona pandemic, the Prime Minister has directed the Federal Minister for Education to work with the provincial education ministers and develop a joint strategy for the future of education and the teaching process. In addition to this, they should also develop a modus operandi for addressing the financial difficulties experienced by educational institutions and the concerns of the parents regarding fees, due to the pandemic.

The Prime Minister issued these instructions during a review meeting on the progress on educational reforms and the government’s educational agenda under the corona situation. Also present in the meeting were Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood, Federal Minister for Information Senator Shibli Faraz, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Information, Lt.Gen.(retd) Asim Saleem Bajwa, Provincial Minister of Higher Education for Punjab, Raja Yassir Humayun, Chairman Higher Education Commission, Tariq Banuri, and other senior officials.

The Prime Minister was given a detailed briefing on the progress so far on introducing a uniform system of education in Pakistan, madrassah reforms, promotion of a skilful Pakistan, and higher education reforms.

The Prime Minister was informed that a unified syllabus for Classes 1 to 5 has been developed and will be implemented by April 2021. Apart from this, consultation is being held with the relevant stakeholders for the formulation of the syllabus for Classes 6 to 8. While being briefed over the measures for continuing the system of education despite the closing of educational institutions due to the corona virus, like tele-schooling etc., he was told that 70 to 80 lac students are benefiting from this service. Apart from this, e-Taleem portal is also being worked on. The services of Radio Pakistan will be used for the education of students in the far-flung areas of the country.

The Prime Minister directed regarding distance learning, that under the current situation all available resources should be used to provide easy access to the teaching system.

In the meeting there was also a detailed briefing regarding the actions taken to introduce educational reforms in the country with help from foreign organisations.

While talking about the issue of sub-campuses of federal universities in different provinces, the Prime Minister said that there should be a detailed strategy for this, so that while the standard of education is maintained, it is also ensured that the students at sub-campuses do not have to experience any gap or hitch in their education.

The Prime Minister said that it is the need of the hour and our foremost priority to convey modern education to our youth and prepare them for the challenges of today and tomorrow. The education system is experiencing a major challenge due to the corona virus; however, every possible step should be taken to prevent a lack of continuity in the teaching process.

The Prime  Minister directed that out-of-the-box solutions should be presented for the facing of the challenges confronting the field of education, so that while prevailing over them, we can take forward our mission of promoting high-quality education and easy access to it.
