AJK Resident Arrested After Crossing LoC to Meet Girlfriend in Uri Sector

IIOJK: Indian Army’s 12 Grenadiers unit has arrested an Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) resident near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Salikot area of Uri sector after he allegedly crossed into Indian territory to meet his girlfriend.
According to military sources, the arrested individual has been identified as Zeeshan Ahmed Mir, a resident of AJK. Preliminary investigations revealed that he crossed the heavily guarded LoC in an attempt to meet his girlfriend, Iram Bano, who lives on the Indian side of Kashmir.
Sources described the incident as a rare cross-LoC love affair, saying the young man risked his life by traversing one of the world’s most sensitive and militarized borders for a personal meeting.
Army personnel reportedly intercepted and detained Mir shortly after he entered the area. He was taken into custody and is currently undergoing questioning by security agencies.
Officials said initial inquiries suggest that the crossing was motivated by personal reasons rather than any militant or criminal activity. However, security agencies are conducting a detailed investigation to verify his background, contacts, and the circumstances surrounding the border breach.
The incident has attracted attention due to its unusual nature, highlighting the human dimension of families and relationships divided by the Line of Control, where movement across the border remains strictly prohibited and closely monitored.
Zeeshan Ahmed Mir remains in military custody, and further legal action will be determined following the completion of the investigation.
