Anti-War Protest in Tel Aviv Highlights Dissent Amid Israel’s Ongoing Conflict with Iran

A modest demonstration took place in Tel Aviv today as a small group of Israelis voiced opposition to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s military escalation against Iran and renewed operations targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Footage shared widely on social media, including by Al Jazeera English showed protesters gathered in the city. Participants carried signs in Hebrew and English demanding an immediate arms embargo, an end to what they described as US-Israeli aggression, and expressing solidarity with civilians affected in Lebanon, Iran, and Gaza.

Chants criticized the government’s war policy, with some activists framing the conflict as “imperial aggression” and refusing to serve as “pawns” in broader geopolitical aims.

The protest marks the third such anti-war gathering in Tel Aviv in recent days. Police presence was noted, and past attempts have faced interruptions or monitoring by authorities and counter-demonstrators.

The demonstration occurs against the backdrop of a three-week-old US-Israeli military campaign against Iran, which has included widespread strikes on Iranian targets and has resulted in significant casualties and damage on both sides. Netanyahu has repeatedly stated that the operations aim to create conditions for regime change in Tehran by weakening the Islamic Republic’s leadership, security forces, and proxy networks like Hezbollah, though he has acknowledged that ultimate success depends on internal Iranian action and is not guaranteed.

The Tel Aviv protest remains a limited expression of dissent in a nation largely unified behind its military response, but it underscores persistent divisions over the war’s costs, objectives, and long-term implications for regional stability.
