Armed Attacker Killed in Police Retaliation as Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza Survives Gun Attack

Prominent religious scholar and YouTuber Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza escaped unharmed after an unidentified gunman opened fire outside his Quran-o-Sunnat Research Academy on Sunday morning, police confirmed.

The incident occurred around 10:45 AM at the academy gate in Jhelum, where the attacker, armed with a 9mm pistol, began firing. Security personnel and police responded swiftly with retaliatory fire, killing the assailant on the spot. One police constable sustained a bullet injury to the leg and was shifted to a hospital; he is reported to be out of danger.

According to police spokesperson Kashif Kiani, Mirza was present outside the academy at the time but remained safe. The cleric, known for his independent interpretations of the Quran and Sunnah that attract millions of followers online, continued his regular lectures afterward.

This marks the latest in a series of threats and attacks against Mirza, who has previously survived assassination attempts and physical assaults at the same location.

The attacker’s identity and motive remain under investigation. Authorities have not ruled out links to religious extremism or personal grudges stemming from Mirza’s controversial views.
